| Your benefits
Due to the gap between Sales & Marketing and the Technical departments
in any medium to large company, often, when you buy a "ready
made" software product you'll not expect long customization
& adaptation phases and, you won't be sure the bought product
really does what they say, until the end of the deployment.
Then, after paying a lot of money and waiting to see it functional
a whole lot of time, you discover that you'll have to do some business
compromises because your expensive new system is not accomodating
certain requirements of yours and, being an "off the shelf"
product, the producer is not keen to change it for you. What to
do now, after all invested time and money?

By using custom built software
you avoid these problems. At any point in time, the development
process is following your exact needs and can take a turn to the
right direction if deviating from the optimum business workflow
or if a new requirement is springing into existance suddenly. Total
costs are lower due to many reasons, some not so
obvious:
- There is no deadweight
to be carried as it is in a medium / big company: no rented offices,
no car fleet to be maintained, no management bonuses, etc.
- A custom built product takes into account your existing infrastructure
and is not inducing cascade purchases.
For exemple, how many off-the-shelf products accept any database
back-end? Most of them require strictly a certain database which
is usually to be paid for separately. And, "surprisingly",
it is possible that the required database needs a certain operating
system, paid too. So here it is: a chain of new expenses induced
by the initial choice of product.
- No heavy licensing.
Once you paid the development for a custom built application,
why to ask for more money if the number of users inside your organization
increases?
- If you need a change in your software product it'll be faster
implemented inducing lower costs
for each change. This because I am the one who
built it and know what's inside in detail, as opposed to a devel
department in a company that faces employees turnover.
- Finally, I am located in Romania, home of many well established
IT outsourcing companies and also source of IT specialists to
the entire world. The Romanian advantage can be summarized as
follows:
- Highly skilled & motivated IT specialists
- Excellent foreign languages skills. Easy to understand English
accent.
- European culture at East European costs
